110 year old Christmas greeting

Christmas greeting 1911-1912.

Our archive is filled with treasures from a bygone era, and this Christmas card takes us on a deep dive back to the past.

The Christmas greeting was sent from Anna and Nils Finnøy at the then called Nils N. Finnöis Motorfabrik, and reads “Merry Christmas! Happy New Year!". It includes a photograph of the original factory and their home that gives a flashback into life as they once knew it on the island of Finnøy. At the beginning of the 20th century, around fifty men were employed at the factory, which was gradually expanded with a new foundry and model workshop in order to meet the growing demand.

The mini time capsule of a postcard gives us a reminder of how the pioneers in diesel engine production paved the way for todays Finnøy Gear & Propeller. We heartfully send them an extra thought this holiday season. Looking back, we want to express our gratitude towards the maritime community as a whole for the trust along with the excellent co-operation we have experienced over past years. As the festive mood starts to build up, we once again wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous and healthy New Year.
